The Chiswick Polish Co Ltd & The Nugget Polish Co Ltd Merger
A lovely Queen Ann Mansion, with a most romantic history and an old world garden, has been converted into an ideal Social Club for girls. The delightful old withdrawing room, still retaining its paneling and plaster relief work, makes a dignified reading room, while in many other reception rooms with their tiny powder closets, classes are held during the winter months in needlework, cookery, dressmaking, physical training etc.
The Concert Hall, with Canteen Hatches closed, the Stage lowered and Proscenium in position.
As a Canteen, showing Stage raised against the end wall.
These subjects also form the curriculum of the day Continuation School, in which all girls under sixteen years of age spend one whole day each week, full wages being paid for the day.
Boston Hall, built behind the house, is equipped with a stage which can be drawn up to afford additional space for dancing on the fine maple floor, and serves in the dual capacity of Concert Hall and Girls Canteen.
The Men's Social Club and Canteen both adjoin the main works, the club containing billiard tables, rooms for gymnastics and all indoor games, including a bowls rink, whilst the numerous trophies on the walls denote the satisfactory result of many matches and tournaments.
