1918 to 1949
This shield was discovered in the Dukes Meadows Community Association's hall (DMCA) during a clear up of the premises early this year.

We believe it was moved from the old Chiswick Products (Cherry Blossom) Chertsey Road factory sports pavilion on the company's Dukes Meadows sports ground that was demolished in the very early eighties.

The Staveley Gardens residents association wanted to use the old pavilion as a community hall for the local residents but were refused as it was to be pulled down, so a new hall was built behind Alexandra Gardens, two snooker tables found there way to the new building, and with them came this Billiard Challenge Shield.

Mrs Charles Mason presented the Billiard Challenge Shield that was first presented in 1918 and continued on to 1949 when the shield was eventually full with winner's names.
The names of the winners are as follows:

1918 / 19: O. Carlsen
1920 / W.T. King
1921 / O. Harris
1922 / 27 C.E. Barnes
1928 / G.A. Bettinson
1929 / F. Waters
1930 / S.Mills
1931 / 32 G. A. Bettinson
1933 / S. Mills
1934 / 35 G. A. Bettinson
1936 / R. Tubbs
1937 / 38 C.E. Barnes
1939 to 1946 No Competition
1947 / 48 S. Mills
1949 / J. Thompson.
It would be interesting to know if anybody can recollect any of the names on the shield, or if any relatives are still in the Chiswick area that can give us some back ground on this Billiards Challenge.
